These pieces exemplify various styles of keyboard composition, forging a link from the pianism of the nineteenth century to the modern age of marimba performance. Musical FeaturesThis collection of etudes is written in a style that comes from the piano writing of the 19th century. Tonal harmonic progressions, simple melodic lines and textures. Each prelude is a short character piece that highlights specific aspects of technique framed in a musical context. This collection features a number of different styles, tempi, expressions, and articulations.
Technical FeaturesAs this piece is a collection of preludes focused on different aspects of technique and musicality, all stroke types and roll types are used throughout.
